Genuine A123 LiFePO4 2-cell 6.6V battery pack, with JST-XH balance connector, genuine Deans Ultra connector and separate JR connector lead. Built from genuine A-grade A123 cells. These packs are made from the new A123 M1B cells which have a slightly higher capacity of 2500mAh compared to the old 2300mAh.

A123 LiFePO4 battery packs make great fast-charge receiver batteries and hold their charge superbly. Please check whether your receiver and servo's will require a voltage regulator before using the pack to power your receiver and servos. A123 batteries offer excellent voltage stability under load, lending themselves very well to airframes with high servo loads.

Fast charge is possible using A123/LiFePO4 compatible chargers. Please do not attempt to fast charge A123 battery packs using the balance connector alone, as the balancing wires are not generally suitable for currents above 1A. The maximum charge voltage per cell for these A123 cells is 3.6V per cell (7.2V total)

A123 batteries have a very flat discharge curve and therefore using the voltage to check remaining capacity is not reliable. We suggest to fully charge and then after first use, re-charge and monitor the number of MAH put back into the pack to develop an understanding of how many flights you can have between recharges. For 50cc models, it is normally possible to have at least 4 flights comfortably before a recharge is required – you can then recharge at up to 10A and be ready to go again within 20 minutes!

Nominal pack voltage: 6.6V (3.3V per cell)Fully-charged pack voltage: 7.2V (3.6V per cell)Recommended cut-off voltage: 5V (2.5V per cell)Minimum voltage: 4.0V (2.0V per cell)

If swapping the  (T- plug) on this pack for another type of connector, remove the existing plug by cutting one wire at a time, to avoid shorting the pack. Or de-solder the existing T-Plug carefully after cutting the heat-shrink.ONE YEAR BATTERY EXCHANGE WARRANTY ON SOLDER COMPONENTS AND CELLS!!

New INFO: Many ask, "Chad I hear from many that you cant voltage test A123 batteries. I do not feel comfortable about this chemistry because I cant volt or load check in between flights"

First of all, years back we flew NICD and NIMH Battery chemistry. Due to the high internal resistance and especially under a flight load there was a need to LOAD test them between flights. With today's 2.4 radio technology we have, the high power 300+ ounce digital servos, and large control surfaces a high IR NIMH pack can jump from 6.0 volts to 3 volts or less in a snap roll! Then what happens is an ultimate an untimely "brown out" The GENUINE A123 technology while utilizing a high current rx connector can handle up to 120A bursts making this illogical to happen!

Are these the same as the LIFE/Lifepo 4 packs? A resounding NO!  Soft pack "life" packs are not as superior as genuine A123 cells. Often cell match is weaker as is output discharge capabilities. Most are also fragile "soft" type packs. With that said if it is NOT labeled as a 1100,2300,2500, or 4600/5000 4 cell A123 pack, and not a cylinder shaped cell, it is more than likely LIFE and not A123 cells inside the pack!

There is NO NEED to voltage test them. Fly a set number of flights and count charge milli-amps between flight. Say you burn 300 MAH per flight you cna fly a set number of 4-5 flights before you should be concerned about a re-charge.
A123's (real ones) have a flat line curve and that is what actually makes them so desirable. They stay at 6.6 VOLTS Most of their cycle life while being discharged in flight up to 30 AMPS continuous! No matter what you throw at them amp wise they remain 6.6 volts under a constant load.
No need to voltage test them. Just charge them.

This is a false worry that has been going about them since 2008 and it needs to be embraced as the reason why the chemistry is one of the most superior ones!

  1. A123 2500MAH 5 Star Review

These battery charge quickly and hold it. We use them for combat robots. They get abused and keep working.

  2. Taildragger A123 Batteries 4 Star Review

The Taildragger A123 batteries are a good choice for both giant scale warbird and large 3D airplanes. I use dual 2500 mAh batteries with separate charge/switches and battshare. Good batteries at a good price. Very friendly people to deal with and good customer service.

  3. Taildragger A123 battery packs 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Jul 2016

I have used pretty much all the battery types that are out there and I settled on the A123 packs from Taildragger RC to power my new 1/4 scale AT6. I like how they hold there charge for long periods of time without being constantly tended to. I have enjoyed using the Relion Lipo packs in the past but seemed to always be loosing an expensive pack to low voltage. A switch would get left on or bumped to on in transit and the voltage would drop to zero or so low that you couldn't bring them back. I had an A123 pack that sat on an ignition system for 2 years and when I checked it it still load tested good. I actually flew the pack a couple of flights because I didn't yet have a charger that would handle A123s. (Not recommended, but you know how we are sometimes) I do now have proper chargers. I like the way that A123 hold a constant voltage and amperage draw for the duration of its charge. Yes when they fall off they drop drastically, you just have to know your packs and know how much you've used out of it.
I am totally impressed with Taildragger and there service levels. They have earned my business and I appreciate my new friends in the RC business.

  4. Excellent service and price from order to shipping...however... 3 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Apr 2016

Order was processed and shipped in record time. However, upon receipt, I noticed quite a difference in voltages between the two cells after a normal (1c) charge and balance cycle. After some various charging and discharging routines, I finally managed to get the two cells to pretty much match. After sitting overnight, the cells parted ways once more...one at 88% (3.379v) and the other at 90% (3.399v), .015v difference. Is this normal? My other (genuine) A123 packs come much closer together for a much longer period of time sitting around.

  5. Decent battery marred by cloned Dean's connector 4 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Oct 2015

While I think the battery is a good product - genuine A123 battery, the cloned Dean's connector is a nuisance. It does not connect easily to a proper Dean's connector and requires a twisting and pushing motion to insert the pins. I would pay an extra $1 just to get a genuine Deans on the battery.

  6. Great batteries at a great price! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 13th Mar 2015

I've been using these batteries every since taildragger started selling them. I have not had any troubles at all and use them in every plane from 30%-42%. I really like all the included connectors also.

  7. Wrong connector 4 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Feb 2015

Your description on this 123 pack describes it as supplied with JR connector. That is one of the main reasons I purchased 4 of them along with a good price. Please correct your description as they were supplied with Futaba style connector! This means that I have to use an adapter which increases the failure potential by two more connections.I could replace my switches to use the Deans connector but that defeats the purpose of saving cost on the initial pack.I will continue to use your products but in the case of connectors I will call before ordering.

Good price fast delivery. I like the deans connector for lossless delivery to the switches. Quick response to email issue.

  9. great battery for a good price 5 Star Review

I like the quick charging of these batteries and they hold it

  10. Great A123 5 Star Review

I usually order custom A123's because of connectors. These give you a choice of connectors to use. And fast shipping, thanks.
